At Brentwood SEPTA's (Special Education Parent Teacher Association) Autism Awareness Walk and Mental Health Fair, I had the opportunity to read Grumpy Shark to families and young children. In addition to sharing my book, I participated in the event by selling copies of my work and assisting with the sale of raffle tickets in support of SEPTA's initiatives.

Participated in panel discussion at Stony Brook Hospital. It was my pleasure to share my experiences with having Autism in the hopes to help others.
In the early 70s, teenagers with disabilities faced a future shaped by isolation, discrimination and institutionalization. Camp Jened, a ramshackle camp “for the handicapped” (a term no longer used) in the Catskills, NY, exploded those confines. Jened was their freewheeling Utopia, a place with summertime sports, smoking and make-out sessions awaiting everyone, and campers experienced liberation and full inclusion as human beings. Their bonds endured as many migrated West to Berkeley, California — a hotbed of activism where friends from Camp Jened realized that disruption, civil disobedience, and political participation could change the future for millions. And did.
